This beautifully hand embroidered tapestry is filled with life vibrant images from daily life in an African community; a large 3 legged cooking pot stand in front of 2 rondavel huts. A street vendor is selling cakes and sweets while a traffic cop stops a speedy scooter. A mother walks with her child while carring a load of fire wood on her head.

This wall hanging is made by an embroiderer from the Mapaula Embroidery Collective based in the Wintervelt, South Africa.  This pieces is 35" x 19" and is stitched onto black African cotton.  Tapestries made by the Mapula embroiderers have been collected by museums and also presented to Queen Elizabeth and President Obama.
