Isipethu is a small group of women in KwaZulu Natal who express their stories in cloth using embroidery and appliqué. Each small collage comes with a hand written story that is translated from the makers own story in Zulu. Pieces from this group are now in public and the private colleciton of several well known textiles artists in London, Canada and the USA. Some of the artisans like Cynthia Msibi, have won major prizes for their work. Read more about Isiperthu Sewing Group under the Who Are The Makers link above.
