Intuthuko Sewing Group

intuthuko-rosina-moela-evie.jpgHere are Rosina, Moela and Evelyn sewing up the scarves made for the Grandmother's National Walk: Stride to Turn the Tide - to raise funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. The Intuthuko group does wonderful detailed hand embroidery squares, pouches and bags. The women are single mothers and grandmothers caring for orphans of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and live in a desperately poor sprawling toownshi. All embroideries are bought on a Fair Trade basis, which is the women's only source of income. Your purchase helps to support these women and their families.
