Sweet Scarlett
It’s been a while since I posted, so I thought I’d catch up by showing you Scarlett’s baby quilt which I finished last fall. I began the quilt about a year ago and stitched on it slowly. My favourite stitching place is a comfy chair in my studio looking out over the garden. I chose pure Dorr wool, the preferred material for rug hooking. My local hooking store called Encompassing Designs is a good source. Dorr wool is from England and is a dream for appliqué,
I threw the wool in the washing machine for a hot wash wool and then into the dryer. So counter-intuitive to treat wool that way! The shrinking tightened up the weave for appliqué without unraveling. I just jumped in and and cut spontaneously to make the design. I call this a “napping blanket”. It doesn’t have any batting and is lined with flannel.
